a Few Words About Me

My name is Ozlem (Oz). I was born and raised in the Aegean region of Turkey where I learnt the art of Turkish cooking from my Mother. I have a passion for cooking and culinary anthropology. I love food and I love travel.

Mezzeturca was set up in 2004. I teach mainly Turkish Cuisine (as well as Eastern Mediterranean, Ottoman and Byzantium cuisine) at the Honesty Cookery School in Hampshire as a guest teacher. I present demonstrations and talks on Eastern Mediterranean, Byzantium and Ottoman Cuisine for private groups too.

I studied Fine Arts at University and believe that cooking is an art form. Colourful, healthy dishes with bold flavours are my style. I love teaching people to cook and eat from nature. I also love growing my own vegetables and herbs.
